I am very excited about David Burgess being the Keynote speaker at World Conference. I just purchased his book, Teach Like A Pirate.
Has anyone read this book? Do you feel you learned anything to take back into your classroom?

A New Adventure in Technology
Say hello to my very first blog post.
I chose to create a blog as my assignment because it engaged me the most and I was thinking it was something that I could keep up with.
My background story:
When I was growing up, I wanted to be a teacher, and then I changed my mind and wanted to become a pasty chef. In high school, I loved culinary class and always found recipes online of treats that I baked and took to school. My senior year, I enrolled in Ready, Set, Teach just because I wanted to be with Ms. Wilson (who I will never forget). She made me realize that teaching is where I was meant to be so that is when I went back to my dream of being a teacher.
I will never forget teaching an 8th grade math class as a senior in high school- talk about about a hard few weeks. I learned about classroom management really fast. After high school I went to TCC for two years and then transferred to Midwestern State University, where I represent the education department on a billboard in Decatur!
My life now:
I just completed my first year of teaching, which is very odd to say- I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I teach 2nd Grade Math and Science at Peterson Elementary and I am now a curriculum writer for 2nd Grade Science.
I am excited to have a year under my belt and for the next school year!
